My artist's model was mortally wounded, today. He had previously suffered a blow to the head which left him permanently crippled with limited neck movement and odd head angles. But just today, as I boredly changed him from one pose to another, his torso separated and his midsection went rolling across the floor.

Henry was a simple model, but slightly vain. He'd only ever modelled for me once, but he'd done very well. From that point on, he'd been doing independant work and trying to find a permanent pose. But Henry had fallen on hard times. He went missing for awhile and I suspect that he'd been trying to find a job. But poor Henry was only a small model, and the typical artist only wanted larger ones or real ones. Penniless and heartbroken, he returned to his shelf and assumed an interesting position with hopes of one day being of use again.

After the injury, Henry was rushed to the hospital to undergo emergency spring reconnection surgery. The surgery was successful, but barely. Henry was left paralyzed from the waist down. The doctors said that he will probably never be able to assume a walking pose again.

These days Henry spends most of his time sitting on a case of computer repair tools. He can assume feeble walking poses if he uses his stand, but he prefers his new feedom of being off the stick. Sometimes, he still sits in an interesting pose with hopes that maybe he'll still be drawn, but he takes his work lightly nowadays.
